Myrtle Beach: Beach PLUS Golf Capitol USA…unless you are from Hilton Head, in which case, you might have an argument. Either way, you probably would win. But there’s so much more than Golf in Myrtle Beach, which of course, is why the town (and area) is named as it is.
Now if you are looking for a quiet, layed back vacation site, this is probably not it. It’s quite frankly… quite commercial, but the good news is that there is something for virtually every family member here. The beach, of course; an amusement park, golf, golf, golf, and even some history. A few miles drive will take you some old lighthouses, and not too far from where the Wright Brothers did their intial flying and testing.
We love to have a wide choice of restaurants and they abound here, from the national chains to unique local establishments. If you want “all you can eat” seafood buffets, they are here; Italian is here, everything you can want is here.
The best way to enjoy a Myrtle Beach Vacation however, like about everything else, is to plan ahead. If you think you want a golf theme, then check out the package deals. You can choose your level of challenge, costs, etc. If you go in the summer, plan your package and tee time early because in the vacation season, it’s hot and muggy by mid day. And later in the season, see if you have any cancellation insurance in case of a hurricane.. this is right in the center of many storm tracks. This is true of many East Coast Vacations so be prepared.
Other than that, not much to add.. we’ve vacationed in Myrtle Beach several times and enjoyed every one.
